Born in Kazan and trained in Russia, Venera Gimadieva studied in Saint Petersburg and joined the Bolshoi’s Young Artists Programme.

She then began appearing on international stages : she was revealed to the public at the Glyndebourne Festival in the role of Violetta (La Traviata), which quickly opened the doors to major theatres such as the Paris Opera, Covent Garden, Hong Kong and Washington.

With Lucia (Lucia di Lammermoor), Elvira (I Puritani) and the Queen of Chemakha (The Golden Cockerel), her other hobbyhorses, she sang in Madrid, Munich, Dresden, Brussels, Vienna, Santa Fe…

She also sang Amina (La Sonnambula) at the Deutsche Oper in Berlin and at the Bolshoi, Giulietta (I Capuleti e i Montecchi) in Berlin, Marguerite de Valois (Les Huguenots) in Dresden, Norina (Don Pasquale) and the title role in The Snow Maiden at the Bolshoi, and Juliette (Roméo et Juliette) in Lima.

Most recently, she sang Donna Anna (Don Giovanni) at Glyndebourne.

Her projects include her first Liù (Turandot) at La Monnaie in Brussels, a first step towards a more lyrical repertoire, following the natural evolution of her voice.
