GUILLEMIN Charlie

Born in 1990, Charlie Guillemin is a multidisciplinary artist passionate about live performance in all its forms. He enjoys crossing boundaries by being a singer, actor, dancer, and musician. From theater to musical theater, contemporary music to opera, he explores all the worlds that allow him to thrive on stage.

He began his journey with the Maîtrise des Hauts-de-Seine and continued his vocal training with Nicole Kuster, Janine Fourrier, Christiane Patard, and now Mireille Delunsch. Simultaneously, he pursued theatrical training under Karin Catala and dance (Modern Jazz, Jazz Roots, and tap dance) with Sharon Kirch.

Regularly praised for his acting abilities, expressive voice, and diction, he places a strong emphasis on theatrical commitment and specializes in the character tenor repertoire. In his dedication to ensuring the understanding of text takes precedence in his musical work, he frequently collaborates with many renowned vocal coaches such as Franck Villard, Brigitte Clair, and Marcus Price.

He began his operatic career by singing the role of Aeneas (*Dido and Aeneas*) with the UNIKANTI troupe, touring India, Canada, and performing at prestigious venues like the Cathédrale Saint-Louis des Invalides and Sainte-Chapelle in Paris. He then focused on French repertoire, portraying Valentin (*Le Petit Faust*) at the Théâtre de Lonjumeau, at the Teatro Nacional de San José in Costa Rica, and in a recording for France Télévision, broadcasted on Mezzo and France 2.

He also performed as Scapin (*L’Île de Merlin* by Gluck) on tour in Laos and France, as Menelaus (*La Belle Hélène*) at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, and as King V’lan (*Le Voyage dans la Lune*), Phi-Phi at the Opéra de Massy, and Dr. Blind (*Die Fledermaus*) on tour with the Académie de l’Opéra National de Paris.

He gained notable attention for the colorful role of the jester Elcius (*Croesus* by Keiser) at the Théâtre de l’Athénée and also portrayed Remendado (*Carmen, Reine du Cirque*) at the Opéra d’Avignon.

Recently, he performed as Monostatos (*Die Zauberflöte*) at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, the Atelier Lyrique de Tourcoing, and the Operas of Reims and Bordeaux.

Among his upcoming projects, he will reprise Menelaus at the Opéras of Tours and Toulon, as well as Monostatos in Toulon.

« Charlie Guillemin met son habituelle verve théâtrale au service d’un Monostatos obséquieux et tremblant, et altère sa voix bien émise pour évoquer la méchanceté du personnage. » (Olyrix)

Charlie Guillemin is often celebrated for his strong theatrical flair, and in his portrayal of Monostatos, he effectively conveys the character's servile and trembling nature. His vocal technique, well-projected and controlled, is subtly altered to capture the malice inherent in the character, adding depth and nuance to his performance.
