Born in Paris, Thomas Morris studied singing with Georgette Rispal, of the Paris Opera, while pursuing his degrees in Literature and Russian at the Sorbonne. He won numerous prizes at international singing competitions, such as those of Marseille, Treviso, Marmande and Verviers. He received the Grand Prize for French Music at the Henri Sauguet / Yves Saint-Laurent International Singing Competition.
Since then, he has appeared on many European stages such as Paris, Strasbourg, Lyon, Marseille, Nice, Toulouse, Montpellier, Bordeaux, Toulon, Avignon, Rennes, Tours, Nantes, Lille, Rouen, Compiegne, Bologna, Cagliari, Genoa, Macerata , Martina Franca, Naples, Rome, Treviso, Turin, Venice, Baden-Baden, Dresden, Cologne, Bregenz, Vienna, Geneva, Lausanne, Wexford, Prague, Bratislava, Vilnius or Seoul.
Particularly appreciated for the character tenor repertoire, he also performs regularly in recital.
Over the last 10 years, Thomas Morris has been involved in many productions: Tales of Hoffmann, Andrea Chénier, Die Zauberflöte, Turandot (Puccini and Busoni), Madama Butterfly at the Macerata Festival ; Ariadne auf Naxos, The Adventures of King Pausole, The Grand Duchess of Gerolstein, La Gioconda, La Vie Parisienne, Dialogues of the Carmelites and Boris Godounov at the Nice Opera House ; Carmen and L’Enfant les sortilèges at the San Carlo of Naples; Les Mamelles de Tiresias at the Operas of Lyon, Cologne and Prague; Il Cappello di paglia di Firenze at the Teatro Regio of Turin, Lausanne and Genoa; Turandot at the Seoul Opera ; Der Vampyr and Eugene Onegin at the Bologna Opera; Le Roi malgré lui at the Wexford Festival; Candide at the Rome Opera ; Fra Diavolo at the Royal Opera of Wallonia ; Le carrosse du Saint Sacrement, Fra Diavolo, La Chanson de Fortunio, Les Mamelles de Tiresias and Les Brigands at the Opéra Comique and Louise at the Opéra Bastille.
More recently, he sings the role of Narcisse in Geneviève de Brabant by Offenbach at the Montpellier Opera, Pirelli and Fogg in Sweeney Todd at the Toulon Opera, Pluton and Aristée in Orphée aux Enfers at the Royal Opera of Wallonia and Monsieur Triquet in Eugen Oneguin at the Nice Opera.
His projects include the creation of Richard Errington’s Opéra de la Paix in Paris and Geneva, Maurice Ravel’s L’Heure espagnole in Cannes, and the part of Marinoni in Fantasio (Offenbach) with Opera Zuid in Maastricht.
