Born in Budapest, Klára Kolonits studied at the Franz Liszt Academy in her hometown, before joining the Ensemble of the Csokonai Theater in Debrecen (Hungary), where she made her debuts in her leading roles: Countess Almaviva (Le Nozze di Figaro), Olympia, Antonia and Giulietta (The Tales of Hoffmann), Fiordiligi (Cosi fan tutte) or the Queen of the Night (Die Zauberflöte).

After winning numerous prizes, she is engaged by the Budapest State Opera where she performas the parts of Donna Anna (Don Giovanni), Konstanze (Die Entführung aus dem Serail), Lucia (Lucia di Lammermoor), Norma, Violetta (La Traviata), Gilda (Rigoletto), Luisa Miller, Odabella (Attila), Marguerite de Valois (Les Huguenots) … Prooving herself a true soprano drammatico d’agilità.

She was also invited to sing in Copenhagen the roles of Beatrice di Tenda and Lucrezia Borgia, as well as in Amsterdam, Weimar, Linz and Savonlinna where she performs the Queen of the Night.

During the last seasons in Budapest, she sang Lucia di Lammermoor in the original tones (becoming one of the few singers to have dared to take up this challenge), as well as Elvira (I Puritani) under the direction of Riccardo Frizza.

In 2019, she sang again Marguerite de Valois and achieves immense success as Lucia, alternating with Edita Gruberova. She made also her debut in France as Norma at the Capitole of Toulouse.

After the pandemic, she sang Amelia (Simon Boccanegra) in Rouen, as well as Konstanze and her first Maria Stuarda in Szeged.

Among her projects : a concert in tribute to Maria Callas at the Olympia Theatre named after her in Athens.
